Action Packed Taipa Double Trouble Meeting
28th 29th December 2002

Our great 2-day fully sponsored double trouble race meet staged at Taipa Stock & Saloon Car Club packed with action from start to finish.
A big thanks you to all the Guys & Gals from Whangarei, the youth escorts, stock cars, LTD & B Grade cars that came and joined in the fun. Also we can’t forget our close neighbors from Kaikohe, All the other out of Town cars.
Also to all the spectators that came along to watched where every you may have been from.
Day one saw a roll over as a result C Grade driver Stu Renton was taken to hospital with a broken arm. We hope he has not been put off racing by rolling on his first time out.
Carnage everywhere from the Stockies and hard fought battles in the Ltds.
Fiercest racing in B Grade with the return of Ollie Golding and Wayne Dean and visitor Stephen Corry.
Roger Frear and Jason Frear the best of the C under while visiting drivers Monique Gillespie and Wendy Scott added spice to the women’s C Grade.
The Feature All in means race was won by Roy Walker [61] and the woman’s by Margaret Walker [61]. Barry Ross won the Stockcar all-in.
Day one ended with many cars going home for rebuilds and repairs following 27 races.
Prize giving for Saturday night was well you really needed to be there and latter in the evening our Taipa Tattoos was in great form. {Don’t know who we I’m talking about?
Then you should have stayed Saturday night.}
Day 2 featured the Spanhake Engineering Demolition Derby. When the dist settled winners were Christ knight and co-pilot Shyloh in their little Hyundai.  Hamish Wiltons HQ Holden and Billy Duval’s Falcon were close second and thirdplacegetters.
Also on offer were 27 sponsored races.  Highlights included another roll over. Youth escort driver Chloe’s Blacklock (Whangarei driver) came out with no serious injuries. Roy Walker, Dave Clements & Kyle Webster featured in the pick of the ltd race 15 while Stephen Corry and Ollie Golding battled in B Grade, C Under drivers Dennis Staples, Roger Reare and Pip Jecentho ruling the run to the line.
The second round for the Stockcars was the best action Julie Graydon, Glen Rogche and Barry Ross working hard.
The team’s race was won in superb fashion by the Taipa team of David & Julie Graydon, Bryan Desmond and John Hockenhull. (Look out Whangarei it you think you are going to get this cup back soon) The women raced espcetionally well over both days. Might races from Adi Murray Margaret Walker and Maggie Byers in the Ltd Casey Wilton keeping close to them in her B Grader while Rhonda Teixiera and Merie Parry had a great weekend in the Production grade.
There was also a great contest between Denise Frear and Kaikohe Wendy Scott in the final C Grade round.
Frosty Frear won the men’s All-In in his C Under with Chris Knight Super Saloon second and Roger Frear third.
Adi Murray won the woman’s All-In.
Roy Walker with a close second Dave Clements won the 4x4 Ltd Trophy Relay.
The final event was the Demo Derby and the children bombarded the driver with water bombs and eggs as they drive on the track. Billy Duval’s Falcon was nicely dressed in an Xmas theme. The hard luck story went to Wayne Rogers [no.77], which didn’t move an inch.
